Scary Story #1.
Emergency Call

They say paranormal activity is more likely to occur when the atmosphere is just right—during the month October, in dark places, whilst telling ghost stories, ouija board sessions, etc. Or even when an area is disturbed—when a house catches fire, is being remodeled, or when the residents are moving in or out. I have too many stories to support that theory. This is one of them.

The date was October 31, 2002. I was 13 years old. My dad was at work, and my mom was home. My sister and I were also at home instead of trick-or-treating. We lived on a hill and our immediate neighbors were older, so we didn’t expect to get many trick-or-treaters, if any at all. Regardless, my mom didn’t buy any candy to give out and to make sure no one came to our house, she told me and my sister to turn off all the lights and stay quiet to make it seem like no one was home.

After a while of being in the dark, we decided to turn on the TV, but keep the volume realllly low. That’s So Raven was on. lol Anyway, after about a minute, the doorbell rang so I turned the TV back off and waited until whoever was at the door left. But the bell kept ringing.

I grunted and reluctantly got up to get the door…. three policemen were standing at the doorway, and they pointed their flashlights into the foyer to peek around the dark.
I was like, “Sorry, we don’t have any candy.” but no, they were actually cops. haha. I ran downstairs to get my mom—she was in bed and had no idea what was going on so I went back upstairs and asked them why they were here.

So one officer asked why we called. We didn’t…

-yeah, yeah.

Here’s what they told us: they received a call from our house. The dispatcher said no one was responding on the other line, but……..

she was hearing someone screaming in the background.

After a bit more questioning, the cops left and my sister and I went throughout the house to turn all the lights back on because, fuck it. I went to the kitchen where no one had been the entire time. The phone was beeping from being left on. The numbers 9-1-1 were on the screen.
